Amazing Grace (5), Amazing Skylar (2), Takua (8), Ranger (5), Pele (16)
Willow Newcomb
When I went to my first mustang adoption I was 13 years old and had been riding for 2 years. I had trained numerous horses before, but never a mustang.
We went to the adoption and decided to take a 3 year old mare who we named Grace. Despite what we had been told by two or three trainers before. They said that
mustangs are bad horses, you never know what your going to get, they always get sick, and they can not be trained because they are as dumb as dirt.
Well, I could not disagree more. Grace has taught me so much, and I will continue to learn from her. In many ways, she was smarter than me (the 4.0 GPA student).
I thought, "Yeah, sure, they are a dumb as dirt."
Grace is my dream horse. I use her for many things: to give novice riders lessons, she is a sure footed trail horse, a parades, a horse to pony other horses off of,
cow horse, jumping. Pretty much anything I ask her to do she will give 110%. The other day I even took her out for a few hours on the trail. Bareback and with a halter.
I must warn you you though, these horses are like potato chips ... you can not get enough.
