TELL ME ABOUT THOSE MUSTANGS
By Ken Schwab

Some think a mustang is small and mean,
With Roman nose wiry and lean.
A stocky frame and neck slightly bowed,
With a flowing mane to make sure he's showed.

To think they're all alike,' is just down right fiction,
Truth is mustangs come in all colors, sizes, shapes and dispositions.
In other words they don't match any one physical mold,
And when it comes to doing a job they do what they’re told.

Not a fancy pony, but likes working cattle,
With them you don't need a swanky saddle.
A natural intellect to survive is his style,
And a government brand you can see for a mile.

Oh he can strut like a peacock with a smidgen of flare,
And act downright foolish around a mare.
Why he could head a run away cow if given half a chance,
Then stop and roll back at a glance.

Now I've known a few mustangs that were wiry and lean,
But most I have known were not cut to be mean.
They can do the work and are willing endowed,
This leaves little time to strut around proud.

But pretty of course doesn't make a good cow horse,
And it does not help a bit if the puncher is coarse.
If the cowboy uses those spurs referred to as rock grinders,
He may find himself walking back to the camp dodging sidewinders.

It's a privilege to work with God's selection,
To me it is more than simple recreation.
Next it is back to Cow Town,
And one more go around.
